beautiful piece banno.
Beautiful. Makes me want to see the film.
Lovely, makes me want to see it. I just watched Maqbool finally this week---so the last line really resonated.
Beautifully written, Banno. I remembered my grandfather. I used to caress his bony back whenever I met him. My grandmother used to crib whenever we kissed her, saying all this is jhoota pyar, if we really loved her we would visit more often.
Wish I could see the film...
Thanks, Sur, Dipali, Memsaab, yes, you must see the film if you can. It's not an easy watch though.
Grasshopper, my mom who's never been much of a hugger or a toucher, now needs so many hugs from us. And I, who used to push away Dhanno sometimes when she was clambering all over me, now long for her to be in the mood to cuddle up to me!!
What a gentle and insightful review, perfectly in keeping with the subject. The transition from the beginning scorn - and humor -to its sitting-with reflections really drew me in.
